Why roof claims get denied
Typical reasons given: damage called wear and tear or age, not enough storm evidence, damage said to be below the deductible, or the roof judged repairable instead of replaceable. Read the denial letter carefully; it states the reason.
What to do if insurance denied your roof claim
1) Get the denial reason in writing. 2) Gather storm dates, photos and any prior inspection records. 3) Get independent documentation of the roof: slopes, measurements, damaged components, flashing, vents, gutters and interior leaks. 4) Ask your insurer how to submit additional information. Texas has deadlines, so check your policy and act promptly.
