Water Damage Documentation Before Demo in Houston

The most expensive mistake on a water job is tearing out what you needed to prove. I document Houston water losses before demo so your scope and supplements have the evidence behind them.

Why documenting before demo matters

Adjusters can only pay for what they can see or verify. Once wet materials are gone, cut heights, flooring layers, cabinet construction and finish quality are hard to prove. Good documentation protects your scope.

Pre-demo checklist

  • Photo of the water source and every affected room (wide, then close)
  • Moisture readings and wet heights on each wall
  • Flooring type, pad and layers; save a sample
  • Cabinets, countertops, baseboard, casing and doors: material and size
  • Room dimensions and ceiling heights
  • Contents in the way, and anything that must be moved

What I capture on site

Matterport 3D scan, measured sketch, labeled photos and notes, then an itemized Xactimate scope with ESX and PDF.

Can’t wait for me?

Text me photos at 346-680-8880 and I’ll tell you what else to capture before the crew starts. Then I can write the scope from your documentation and my walkthrough. For full job help see insurance job support for contractors.

Who I work for

When you hire me, I work for you, the contractor, not the homeowner. I’m an independent Xactimate estimator, not a public adjuster. I don’t negotiate with the insurance company or promise payouts. I document the job and write the scope and supplements; you submit them and run the job.
